Notes: The BMS 5K is always one of the greatest days of the school year. For months, students set goals, work to achieve them, organize teams, encourage each other, trash talk each other, and look forward to BMS 5K day. I had three goals: to run as well as I could for Team 202, encourage as many students as possible, and BEAT Mr. Schlegel, the BMS principal. I did all three. :-) I ran the first mile hard. I knew Mr. S. would try to come with me, and I could wear him out. I ran my next two miles at a slower pace. The teacher who is next door to me, Josh, just wanted to beat me in the race. We hung together until we got to the last quarter mile. He was a Team 202 member, and I wanted him to run hard, so I said, "GO!" When he did, I looked over my shoulder and knew I had Mr. S. right where I wanted him. Josh beat me by 7 seconds, and I beat Mr. S. by 17 seconds. SO many students gave 100% and met their goals. What a great day!
