Weather: 39°, northwest wind, sunny Notes: I wore Boston Marathon blue and yellow to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, which had occurred five days before this race. Exactly six months before this race, I had run and PR'd on the same course. On that day, I had been two weeks away from a half marathon PR. I decided to run this race because it was again two weeks away from a half marathon. I hope it would tell me where I stood in my fitness. Unfortunately, I ran the course 30 seconds slower than the previous time. However, sub-24 (even 1 sec sub-24) is good, so I wasn't too disappointed. I just couldn't make my legs go, likely a result of racing a 15K two weeks before and/or running 15 miles one week before. I ended up getting second in my age group. Mom, Dad, and Ed came to support me. After the race, I decided to play 24 on the roulette wheel at the casino (because at the time, I thought my official time was 24:00)... and won! :-) Photos: 10 — See below. |
