Weather: 45-50°, sunny, some wind Notes: Racing takes a lot of physical training, and I have no problem sticking to the rigors of a training plan. However, the other half of racing is mental training, which is tough for a head case like me. I enlisted the help of expert runners and good friends Wendy and Tim Miller to help guide me through the Let’s Go 15K (9.3 mi.) as my “professional pacers.” My goal was to finish around 1:20. With their help, I finished in 1:17, and I won my first race. The best part of the race was that I was able to run with friends and learn a lot from them. I felt strong and in control the whole time. Also, my husband and parents were there to see me finish; Mom was even able to give me my winner’s medal. A lot of my friends had a very good race, as well. Hooray, Let’s Go! Photos: 18 — See below. |
