Notes: Ah, the Shamrock. I typically love this race. This 2012 was no exception to that rule, but there was some initial stress. The race has ballooned to over 2,000 registered runners and probably another thousand "bandits" (unregistered runners). The start line was extremely clogged with walkers six abreast who chose to start up front. Once I got past those folks, I was able to try to hang on to my 8:15 pace. My goal was to finish in 33:00. It was a warm, un-Shamrock-like day, and the sun beating on me was a factor with which I had not dealt in training. I slowed here and there, but when I finished, my watch showed 32:59, beating my goal by a minute. However, the official results showed I ran a 33:05. My friend Aaron (18th overall) timed himself at 24:30, and was listed at 24:35 in the results. Perhaps there was a five-second glitch. Whether I met my goal or not, I pushed pretty hard in that race and was pleased with the results and the PR.
