Place: 24 of 66 Division: 2 of 12 Results Link: Click here. Weather: 40°, sunny, wind calm Notes: I entered this late-in-the-year 5K to attempt to run a PR since my training had been going so well. I started with a 7:52 mile. I knew that was fast, but it felt comfortable. I slowed a bit at the beginning of the second mile, and a hill at the turnaround slowed me even more. I couldn't really find any speed after that hill surprise. Even though I struggled a bit on the second half of the course, I finished strong and earned that PR with a 25:33. I also saw a lot of friends there, many of whom won and placed in their age groups. (I got 2nd in the 30-39 female group.) I even saw an old college buddy I hadn't seen in over a decade. It was a great race to end 2011! Photos: 6 — See below. |
