Notes: The 500 Festival Training Series 15K was supposed to show me if I could hold a 9-min./mile pace for an extended time. Boy, did I. Chelsey and I ran together. Our plan was to take it easy on the first mile and go for the 9-min. miles after that. Well, taking it easy gave us a 4:20 first half mile. We decided to pick it up from there. Our first six splits were 8:33/8:22/8:32/8:28/8:23/8:32. At 10K, Chelsey got hot and took off to win her age group with a 1:17:22. My next splits were 8:40/8:48/8:45/1:59. I demolished an old PR by eight minutes, finishing in 1:19:02, an 8:30 pace. This race was full of "unofficial PRs" at different distances. I hit five miles at 42:18, and 10K at 52:30, both huge PRs for those ditances. Chelsey and I never saw Jessie working on getting second in his age group with 1:05:42. It was a fantastic day. Thanks to Ed, Mom, and Candace for supporting us!
