Notes: “Glory Days” is an event that raises money for local cancer charities. It began 11 years ago as a flag football tournament/class reunion to celebrate the life of Robert Lee who was suffering from cancer. Though Robert passed away in 2001, Glory Days still honors his memory annually. In addition to flag football, Glory Days includes kickball, an auction, and Idol competition, and a 3.5-mile relay. I recruited Mom and my friends Lisa and Deb to be on my team. We got a five minute head start because our average age was over 45 years. Lisa walked the first leg, Mom walked the second, I ran the third, and Deb walked the fourth. My main goal was to have fun, but my secondary goal was to run my 1.11-mi. leg in under 10 min., which I did. It was brutally hot, but a nice breeze helped keep us cool. The individual winners of the race crossed hand-in-hand: truly Teammates!
