Notes: Not only had I not raced in months, but I had also just gotten out of the hospital a mere two weeks before this race. I had done no speedwork, and I was still week from the Crohn's flare-up that earned me the hospital stay. I didn't know what to expect. I just wanted to give myself a chance to run fast and see what I could do. However, I complicated matters by misunderstanding the race web site; I thought the race started at 7:00, but it didn't start until 9:30! Mom and I sat in the beautiful hotel and people watched. Finally, it was race time. I was surprised at how wonderful I felt through the whole race. A light rain began to fall on the last mile as we wound through the old golf course. Felt great! I was surprised by both my time and the win in my age gruop.
