I had run the Mini six days before it, and would be running the Seymour Half eight days later. Coming off a broken leg, I was worried about overdoing it. Also, I hadn't had much success with hard efforts in the previous month. I made a plan to stay in the 8:20-8:30 pace range and see how I felt. I was a little slow on Mile 2 (8:36), but I made up for it with a fast kick. It was not my best BMS 5K by far, but I stuck to the plan, and that made me happy. My HR was still wildly out of control for the pace, though. It was a great day to watch all my students succeed. Oh, and I beat the principal for the third year in a row. :-) Photos: 4 — See below. Unfortunately, I can't share some of the neatest shots because it would be inappropriate for me to post students' photos online without parent permission. |
