Place: 21 of 101 Division: 1 of 5 Results Link: Click here. Weather: 35°, sunny, wind calm Notes: When I run 5Ks, I'm usually training for a longer distance. Thus, my body is prepared to run longer at a slower pace. For this race, I trained to run the 5K. I did speed work, hill repeats, and intervals. It paid off. Even though I woke up feeling poorly in the morning, I felt strong after about a minute into the race. My pace was a little bit inconsistent, but every time I felt myself slowing down, I would intentionally push harder. I was rewarded with a huge 50-second PR, an age group win, and a new love for hilly courses. It was great to see a bunch of my friends have great times, too! Photos: 3 — See below. |
