Notes: Though my training had not been what I'd hoped in the month preceding this race, I planned to run and do my very best. I was thrilled to awaken to heavy-falling snow, and even more thrilled to get to race in it. As I've noticed so much in my racing lately, my body seemed to respond well to what I asked of it. I took in the beauty of the run and focused on enjoying myself. Though there were slick spots, I never felt unsafe. On the last mile, a volunteer directed my friend Jayme and me what I knew to be the wrong direction. We followed the correct course, and we, along with Dad, were the only ones to do so. Therefore, we were the only ones to complete the full 5K; everyone else did a 4.5-K (2.8 miles). It's too bad, because the results are listed as if the times were for a 5K. Therefore, I'm listed as 10th and 24th in the results when I was actually 4th and 15th by pace. Oh, well. It didn't ruin my perfect-weather run. After I finished, I doubled back to walk the last three-quarters of a mile with Dad, who finished in 47:48. It was also great to see former student Jessie finish in 21:29.
