Races
Name:
Family Fitness & Stroke Awareness
Date: April 7, 2007 Distance: 15K (9.3 miles) Location: Bedford, Indiana Course: Gradually downhill on the way out, gradually uphill on the way back (Click here to view course.) Time: 1:28:39 Pace: 9:32 Place: 21 of 49 Division: 9 of 35 Results Link: Click here. Weather: 22°, northwest wind 25 mph Notes: Because I had completed my other two training series races with a sub-10 pace, I was eager to do the same in the 15K. I wasn't sure if it was possible though. Amy Beth wasn't at the race, and I didn't think I could pace myself. When each of my splits was sub-10 after the first few miles, I knew I would be just fine. The funny thing about this race was that we all planned to wear our Mini clothes to see how they would work in a long race. However, it ended up being 22°, so we had to dress for winter again! I managed to catch my friend Blaine on the last mile. We were neck and neck on the track, but she had more steam than me in the end. I was shocked with my time, and thrilled with my Top 10 Female placement. Funny note: Our race shirts had "Fitness" spelled incorrectly. They say "Family Finess & Stroke Awareness 15K." I wear mine anyway. Photos: 2 — See below. |
