Notes: This was my first 5K, and I was so nervous. Ed ran it with me. He hadn't run since he was in the Army. It had snowed the day before, so the roads were icy. On the icy spots, the crew had spray-painted "SLICK" in orange. The wind chill was below zero. Ed and I ran the first two miles together, then he told me to go on. I was shocked to cross the finish line in under 30 minutes. Mom and Dad were volunteering, so Mom is the one who gave me my Top 15 Female Finsher medal. I cried. Ed came in at 30:04 and got a Top 15 Male Finisher medal.
